Dear Families,

I would like to share with you information about dental hygiene services that are available for your family member. As sole proprietor of She Smiles, I am a Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice. This is a licensure that is specifically designed to give access to dental hygiene care for the elderly, and the disabled, at care facilities. I will be coming into your care facility to provide dental hygiene services and would like the opportunity to meet your loved one.

In 2018, I started She Smiles so I could continue providing care to medically compromised patients in the comfort of their own residence. Maintaining proper dental health has proven to make a significant difference in the quality of life for people with health concerns. New research shows there is a direct correlation between periodontal disease and heart disease. Despite best efforts, it is sometimes very difficult for caregivers to perform daily oral care. Together, with the help of regular cleanings and periodontal maintenance, your family member can achieve optimum oral health. It is my true passion to provide these services and I am excited for the opportunity to become part of your loved one community.

I have over 25 years of experience as a dental hygienist and worked most of my career in private practice. Several years ago, I found my true professional calling. I worked at UC Davis Medical Center providing dental care to medically compromised patients. Many suffer from memory loss, oral cancer, and bleeding disorders. They are overwhelmed by fear when going to the dentist. It was my job to provide quality dental hygiene services in a safe, welcoming and adaptive environment. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve my community.

All services will be performed according to the laws of the State of California and the California Dental Practice Act. I like to communicate with the resident’s physician, as there are some health conditions that may require pre-medication of antibiotics. Although most patients will not need this, I feel it is necessary to inform the physician of any treatment I perform.

Consent forms must be completed prior to treatment and dental insurance may be billed following my services. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Sincerely,

Lacey Young, RDHAP
